Mistletoe Tips
The best time to buy your mistletoe is at the beginning of December; so get ordering today!
Once you have brought it take it home, snip of the ends and place in a little water with a little bit of sugar.
Store it outside in an unheated shed or garage, then at the last minute, when you actually need it, bring it indoors. This should then last the rest of Christmas.
Kissing under the Mistletoe
Kissing under the mistletoe is one of the many things that makes Christmas a magical time. It stems back to the 18th century when a young lady standing under some at christmas time could not refuse to be kissed. Such a kiss could mean deep romance or lasting friendship and goodwill. But if the girl remained unkissed, she could not expect to marry during the following year.
Anyway Legend has it that the Christmas Mistletoe should be burned on the twelfth night; if the mistletoe was not burned everyone who had kissed under it would never marry.
Whether we believe the myth or not, mistletoe always makes for a great christmas celebration. Even if the pagan importance of mistletoe has been long forgotten, the custom of exchanging a kiss under the mistletoe is still as much fun know as it probably was then.
